Stimulus Checks Update August 2023 What States Are Sending Payments This Month?
Several states have taken the initiative to bolster households by implementing their own tax rebates and supplementary stimulus programs. These states remain committed to providing financial support to their residents.
State-Initiated Stimulus Programs
While the deadlines for claiming state-issued stimulus payments have mostly passed, some states are actively distributing payments. This ongoing process is driven by either the recent approval of new stimulus packages or the need to disburse remaining funds from their initial allocations.
Current Disbursement of State Stimulus Payments
Here’s a closer look at the states currently involved in distributing state stimulus payments:
Idaho:
In Idaho, both tax rebates and “Special Session Rebates” were initially distributed in March and September of 2022. Although a substantial portion of the 2022 rebate payments has already been allocated, the Idaho State Tax Commission continues to issue payments as eligible taxpayers file their returns.
Illinois:
The deadline for eligibility for the Illinois Income Tax Rebate and Property Tax Rebate was set for October 17, 2022. While a significant number of payments have already been disbursed, the state Comptroller has indicated that distribution will continue until all eligible recipients have received their rebates.
Massachusetts:
Massachusetts began the distribution of state tax refunds in November 2022, with the majority of these disbursements now complete. Eligible filers were entitled to a 14.0312% reimbursement of their 2021 Massachusetts state tax liability. Those who have not yet filed their 2021 returns can still claim their refund by filing before September 15, 2023.
Montana:
Residents of Montana have the opportunity to qualify for a property tax rebate of up to $675 and/or an income tax rebate based on their state tax liability. The issuance of individual income tax rebates began in July 2023 and is expected to conclude by December 31, 2023, following the order in which they were submitted.
New Mexico:
In New Mexico, residents are eligible for two categories of rebates in 2023 – one aimed at taxpayers and another tailored for those exempt from filing tax returns. The income tax rebate extends to $1,000 for joint filers and $500 for single filers and married individuals filing separately.
Conclusion
These state-initiated stimulus programs demonstrate an ongoing commitment to supporting households and providing assistance beyond the culmination of the pandemic. As the year progresses, these efforts remain a testament to the states’ dedication to helping their residents navigate financial challenges.
